Indian TV channel Republic Bangla has come under fire for spreading false news about Bangladesh, leveraging online platforms to amplify misleading information. The channel, known for sensationalism and questionable journalistic practices, claimed that all Indian satellite channels were banned in Bangladesh—a claim that has been debunked as baseless.

On Wednesday night, November 28, Republic Bangla’s Facebook page published a post alleging, “All Indian satellite channels banned in Bangladesh from today. Why is Indian media being criticized for covering Muhammad Yunus?” The post included a photo card and quickly gained traction on social media.

However, the Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh (COAB) has dismissed the claim, labeling it as misinformation. Syed Mosharraf Ali Chanchal, the General Secretary of COAB, stated, “This is a false rumor. There has been no directive from the government to block Indian channels. All channels are operating as usual.”

Despite the viral nature of the claim, viewers across Bangladesh confirmed uninterrupted access to Indian satellite channels via cable networks. Republic Bangla's report, which lacks factual substantiation, has been criticized for stoking unnecessary controversy and undermining journalistic integrity.

The incident has highlighted concerns over the channel's increasing reliance on sensationalism and misinformation in its programming and digital presence.
